1. Create a new layer, name it "outline". Draw an outline of the dress and create a couple of folds at the bottom. (C1)
2. Using the Magic Wand tool, you mark the inside of the outline.
3. Create a second layer, name it "filled". Then fill the selection with a lighter colour (C2) using Flood Fill.
4. Create a third layer, name it "shadow". Pick the Draw tool and make sure the options are set on Freehand Line, Stroked, Width 1 and Antialiased. Use colour (C1) and draw where you want the shadows to fall.
5. Pick the Retouch tool and set it to Smudge. (Hardness: 0, Opacity: 100, Step: 25, Density: 100). Work on the dark strokes to get a softer effect.
6. Make layer "filled" active, select it and then invert the selection. Change to layer "shadow" and press clear.
7. Deselect. The smudged paint outside the dress should now be gone.
8. Create a fourth layer, name it "highlights". Use the Draw tool, same settings as before, and this time take the light color (C3) and draw the highlight areas of the dress.
9. Pick the Retouch tool and set it to Smudge. Like you did with the dark strokes, work on the light strokes to soften them out.
10. Make layer "filled" active, select it and then invert the selection. Change to layer "highlights" and press clear.
11. Deselect. The smudged paint outside the dress should now be gone.
